«Липкая/трудная калитка». Wicket — это воротца в крикете, которые состоят из трёх деревянных столбиков (stumps) с лежащими на них двумя поперечными перекладинами (bails). A sticky wicket — это сложная или неудобная ситуация, как на крикетном поле, высыхающем после дождя и неудобном для игрока с битой (batsman), которого называют в подобных случаях sticky dog. Это выражение возникло во времена Второй мировой войны.
